Professor Deirdre Kelly re-appointed to CQC board

Professor Deirdre Kelly has been re-appointed to the board of the Care Quality Commission.

Professor Kelly has been a CQC Commissioner since the launch of the organisation in 2009. She is Deputy Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and is the CQC’s champion for older people’s services and children’s services.

Commenting on her re-appointment she said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue as a CQC Commissioner and play a part in the organisation’s important role in improving and maintaining the quality of health and social care across the country”.

Professor Kelly is Professor of Paediatric Hepatology, Birmingham Children's Hospital and a former Trust Medical Director. She is a member of the Advisory Committee on the Safety of Blood, Tissues and Organs and the Advisory Group on Hepatitis. She is a Governor of the Health Foundation. Professor Kelly is also President, Chair or Past President of various national and international medical organisations and medical advisor to a number of national patient organisations.

  • Her remuneration for the role of board director is £7,752 per annum, plus travel and subsistence expenses.
