“I was delighted to see care that was exceptionally person-centred where people’s lives and well-being were enriched by passionate and caring staff who encouraged and supported people.

“People benefited from an organised service with excellent leadership. The service had a clear vision for providing high quality care where people were at the heart of the service, and this was clearly demonstrated through every aspect of the care provided. The service was a model for compassionate care. People were helped to develop meaningful and positive relationships with staff who knew their individual needs.

“The team at Arbrook House Care Home should be extremely proud of the work they do. I congratulate everyone there for achieving our highest rating.”

The report highlights a number of areas of outstanding practice, including:

Staff and the management team took great steps to ensure that people and their families were at the heart of the care they provided. People were treated as individuals with dignity and respect whose life and experiences mattered to the staff. The manager and staff went out of their way to ensure that people and their relatives were comforted and looked after in a kind and compassionate manner.

Staff in the service built caring relationships with the people they were supporting. Without exception, people were complimentary about the caring nature of the staff. One person told inspectors, "The best thing is the people who work here, I get on with all of them, they talk to me and I feel special."

The leadership team were motivated to provide excellent care to people. The service was led by a team with an open and inclusive management style that evaluated its success based on people's experiences of care.
