The Care Quality Commission has rated the care being provided by St Cuthberts Care Supported Living, to be Outstanding after an inspection across dates in July and August this year.
The service provides personal care to people with learning disabilities and or autism spectrum disorders, in their own homes in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
Previously, in 2015, St Cuthberts Care Supported Living was rated Good overall. At the latest inspection the provider and registered manager were seen to have carefully reviewed the service being provided and challenged themselves to improve it.
Safe, effective and caring services stayed rated Good, while responsive and well-led services improved to Outstanding. St Cuthberts Care Supported Living is now rated Outstanding overall.
At the time of the inspection 27 people were receiving care.
A full report of the inspection has been published on the CQC website: www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-109140679
Ros Sanderson – Head of Inspection (North East and Coast), Adult Social Care said:
“This service has worked hard since our last inspection to improve the care it provides. We found the leadership was often critical of its own performance, which enabled them to identify and embed improvements. They also supported staff in creative ways to help them deliver the best care possible, and celebrated their successes.
“Through well supported staff, people received high quality care that helped them to develop their personal interests they previously thought were not possible, such as employment, and were empowered to live independently.
“We found themed party nights, charity work and social enterprises were undertaken and encouraged through the service, all to help people live their lives. Fantastic work and strong improvements, well done to everyone at the service.”
