The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published a report on the maternity service and the urgent and emergency service at Walsall Manor Hospital.
A focused inspection took place at Walsall Manor Hospital on 8 and 9 September as a result of concerns surrounding safety and governance and found improvements were needed.
The inspection at the hospital’s urgent and emergency department looked specifically at the key questions of whether services were safe, responsive and well-led.
As result, the department remains rated as Good for whether it is responsive, but it is rated as Requires Improvement for whether the service is safe and well-led. This changes the service’s overall rating from Good to Requires Improvement.
The inspection at the hospital’s maternity service looked specifically at the key questions of whether its services were safe, effective and well-led.
The service was previously rated as Good for whether it was well-led, is now rated as Requires Improvement in this key question. The rating for whether the service is safe is unchanged, at Requires Improvement, and the rating for whether the service is effective is also unchanged at Good.
This changes the maternity service’s overall rating to Requires Improvement.
Full findings from the inspection are available to read in a report published today (Tuesday) on CQC’s website at: www.cqc.org.uk/location/RBK02
Walsall Manor Hospital is run by Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
