An independent cancer outpatient service in Chelsea has been rated Outstanding overall by the Care Quality Commission.

LOC @ Chelsea was rated Outstanding for being caring and responsive. It was rated Good for being safe, effective and well-led, following an inspection in June 2019.

As well as outpatients services LOC @ Chelsea also provides oncology outpatient consulting. Run by Leaders in Oncology Care, the service provides a ‘one-stop' service for its patients, including: consultation; diagnostic tests; treatment and supportive therapies, all in one location.

The service holds specialist clinics on different days of the week including clinics for lung cancer, breast cancer, melanoma and psychological support clinics. The service had a supportive services team (complementary therapists, hair/image specialists, dieticians, etc.) available.

CQC inspected medical care and diagnostic imaging departments. This is the first-time inspectors have rated this service and they found that staff cared for patients with compassion. Feedback from patients confirmed that staff treated them well and with kindness.

Deputy Chief Inspector of Hospitals for London and the South, Nigel Acheson, said: “This is the first time we have inspected LOC @ Chelsea and I would like to congratulate the management and leadership team on their Outstanding rating.

“Now that they have set the bar so high I hope these standards can be maintained in future inspections.”
