Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. This service was rated Outstanding overall as well as for being responsive and well-led. It is rated Good for being safe, caring and effective.
Jemima Burnage, CQC’s Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care in the central region said:
“Our inspection team was really impressed by the level of care and support offered to people using Comitis L11 Limited trading as Home Instead Senior Care in this part of Essex.
“People using the service and their relatives gave overwhelmingly positive feedback about the service.
“They felt confident that they were safe and secure when receiving care in their own homes and there were clear systems in place to ensure the safety of people who used the service.
“Staff had received training to identify if people were at risk from abuse or harm and there were sufficient staff to ensure that people received a consistently reliable service.
“The provider worked in partnership with other organisations and took part in several good practice initiatives, to further develop the service.
“People received care and support from staff with a full understanding of people's care needs and they had the skills and knowledge to meet them.
The care provided was person-centred care and considered people’s individual needs, wishes, preferences, and any cultural or religious beliefs.
“Inspectors saw that people were supported to have maximum choice, independence and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
“People's dignity and privacy was respected, staff were reliable, friendly, and caring and inspectors found positive and caring relationships had been developed between staff and the people they supported.
“The registered provider had a number of schemes in place to drive improvement and reward staff that used their initiative and for their outstanding contribution. The service had also recently won an award after being rated one of the top 20 recommended home care providers in the East of England
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated Outstanding.”
Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, said:
“The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements.
“An outstanding service is the result of a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone involved.”
