Edridge Road Community Health Centre in Croydon has been rated as Inadequate overall by the Care Quality Commission and remains in special measures. It was rated Inadequate at its previous inspection.
The centre was rated Inadequate for being effective, responsive and well-led. It was rated Requires Improvement for being caring and Good for being safe, following an inspection in August 2018.
The provider had made improvements since the last inspection and had addressed some of the concerns identified. At this inspection CQC found the practice still needed to improve the care of patients with long term conditions. It needed to improve the uptake of child immunisations. Improve the uptake of cervical screening and undertake learning disability health checks.
The practice must now:
- Ensure care and treatment of the service users meet their needs.
Areas where the practice should make improvements include:
- Providing protected learning time for all staff.
- Consider ways of ways to better identify carers to ensure their needs are known and can be met.
However, staff involved and treated patients with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. Patients found the appointment system easy to use but some reported difficulty in getting appointments.
Professor Ursula Gallagher, Deputy Chief Inspector, Primary Medical Services, said: “I am disappointed that despite a period of special measures, Edridge Road Community Health Centre, is still rated Inadequate. The practice was placed in special measures in February 2018. Insufficient improvements have been made during that period.
“If there is not enough improvement we can move to close the service by adopting our proposal to cancel the provider’s registration.”
