The Care Quality Commission has rated Crossroads Care Central and East Gloucestershire - Gloucester Branch, as Outstanding following an inspection in September.

Inspectors rated the service Outstanding for being caring and well-led and Good for being safe, effective and responsive to people’s needs. The overall rating was Outstanding.

This service is a domiciliary care agency providing personal care to people living in their own homes. It also specialises in offering respite breaks for family carers and offers a carers emergency scheme.

Deborah Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care, said;

“It is always wonderful to find a service that is exceptionally caring about the people they provide support for. This service had an all-round approach to care, they innovated and developed services creatively around people’s needs.

“Many of the support services helped people to live life to the fullest and allowed them to remain living at home when they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. I would like to congratulate the service on attaining an overall rating of Outstanding.”

Some of the key findings from the inspection include:

  • People benefited from excellent relationships with staff who placed them at the centre of their care. Staff often helped people outside of their working hours. For example, to take a person to their GP appointment.

  • People had an exceptionally positive care experience and were matched to staff through their interests, needs and culture.
  • The values and visions of the service were incorporated into everything the service did. This included; quality, trust, caring, respect, understanding and integrity.
  • The service was developed around people and their carers needs. Innovative services enabled people to remain living at home.
  • There was a strong commitment to deliver high quality, personalised care with a strong focus on continued improvement.
