A Worksop care service has been rated good following their latest inspection
CQC inspected Greenacres Grange, which is a care home run by Horizon Care (Greenacres) Limited in January. This was to follow up on concerns identified at previous inspections, which led to them being rated inadequate overall and placed in special measures.
At this latest inspection, CQC welcomed improvements and found people receiving safe care from trained staff, and they were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. The service is now rated good overall and for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. It is no longer in special measures.
Greenacres Grange is registered to provide personal and nursing care for up to 80 people including those living with dementia.
Natalie Reed, CQC’s interim head of adult social care inspection, said:
“When we inspected Greenacres Grange care home, we were pleased to find a well-led service that has made improvements since our previous inspections. Its registered manager and staff have worked hard to develop a culture which now promotes high-quality care and learns from mistakes to reduce the chances of them happening again.
“People in their care were safe, had appropriate care plans in place, and received the support they needed. We saw that people enjoyed their meals and the availability of preferred snacks and favourite drinks had improved. Also, people’s prescribed medicines were well managed, which was a significant improvement. Staff interacted positively with the people they provided care for and we saw that people's dignity and privacy were maintained, whilst being encouraged to be as independent as possible.
“We did receive mixed feedback regarding how complaints from relatives were dealt with. However, the provider has recently improved their complaints handling process, and their communication with local partners, and encourages people and relatives to give feedback so they can identify further areas they can improve on.
“Although we found that visiting arrangements at Greenacres Grange were not initially in line with government guidelines at the start of our inspection, the provider responded to an in-depth discussion with the inspector, then reviewed and changed their approach. Relatives are now able to be considered essential care givers, so that they can visit and care for their loved ones as they wish.
“Overall, we would like to acknowledge the improvements at Greenacres Grange and encourage the team to continue their hard work. We will monitor the service to ensure these changes are fully embedded.”

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the CQC’s regulatory role has not changed. CQC’s core purpose of keeping people safe is always driving decisions about when and where we inspect. As the risks from the pandemic change, we are evolving how we regulate services to reflect what we have learnt during this time. You can read more about our current approach on our website.
CQC is listening to what people are saying about services to help detect any changes in care. If there is evidence people are at immediate risk of harm, CQC can and will take action to ensure that people are being kept safe.
CQC encourages people to give feedback as part of its 'Because we all care' Campaign, and people can give feedback about their care to CQC via the details below:
