Debbie Westhead – Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care said:
“It’s fantastic to see the service has reviewed other examples of care and embedded a positive culture of high quality person-centred care into the service from the start. People we spoke with told us how the staff and the service exceeded their expectations and how they have formed close caring relationships with staff because they are treated like family.
“It was clear from the abundance of positive messages the service received, that it was highly regarded by everyone involved. We saw how people were encouraged to participate in various activities help with their wellbeing, the activities were well thought out by the service and created with people’s preferences in mind so they were relevant to them.
“We also saw how the service was making use of digital technology to further support people’s wellbeing. It was interesting to learn that people had sky dived, another had walked the great wall of China and been on safari all through the use of virtual reality devices.
“There was a strong focus on continuous improvement and a desire to learn how best to care for people whilst respecting their independence and freedom. The management team were very enthusiastic about providing high quality care and spoke about the service’s uncompromising high standards. A brilliant result and well deserved Outstanding rating.”
