The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published a report following an unannounced focused inspection of infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in some of the acute services provided by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

The inspection took place in March and was carried out after inspectors identified the trust was experiencing higher than normal rates of hospital transmitted COVID-19 infections

During the inspection, CQC found that the trust had taken action to ensure that hospital-acquired COVID-19 infections were brought safely under control and there were some examples of outstanding practice. Staff felt supported, and the trust was rated amongst the best in the country for staff engagement. However, there were also a few areas for improvement which the trust should take which are outlined in the report.

As this was a focused inspection, the overall rating of Outstanding for the trust remains unchanged.

The report will be published on the website here.
