New non-executive directors join CQC’s Board

Christine Asbury, Dr Mark Chakravarty and Dr Ali Hasan have joined CQC’s Board as non-executive directors.

Christine previously led not for profit residential care provider WCS Care and was a board member at the National Care Forum.

Mark is a physician with more than 20 years’ experience in both the private and public sector, including Novartis, Procter and Gamble and the NHS. Mark is also the Vice Chair of the unitary board of directors at National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and non-executive director at Health Innovation Manchester.

Dr Ali Hasan, joined CQC as an associate non-executive director in January 2021, and has now been confirmed as a non-executive director. His current roles also include Chief Medical and Healthcare Officer at Vitality Health.

Another addition to the CQC Board is Professor David Croisdale-Appleby who has been appointed as Chair of Healthwatch England. Previously non-executive director of Health Education England, other former roles include chairing an NHS Trust, the forensic science regulator, and the UK-wide Sector Skills Council for Social Care and Social Work. His current roles include chairing the Royal College of Physicians, the Durham University International Business School and DementiaUK.
