The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has appointed a new non-executive member to CQC’s Board. Charmion Pears will join the Board on 1 February and will chair CQC's Audit and Risk Assurance Committee.
Charmion is originally from New Zealand and has extensive experience as a Chair, non-Executive Director, and Trustee with a focus on the public and voluntary sectors. She is a current non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and an Independent Member of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee of the Health and Safety Executive. Her previous roles include Committee Chair of Corserv Care, a domiciliary and residential care business of Cornwall Council, and Trustee of Demelza Hospice for Children. She holds a professional qualification in Chartered Accountancy.

Also effective from 1 February, three members of CQC's executive team; Tyson Hepple, James Bullion, and Mark Sutton, have been appointed as executive members of CQC's Board.
