We have published the reports from our pilot assessments of 2 integrated care systems (ICSs) that volunteered to participate. They are:
The pilots began in July 2023 to test our assessment framework, methods and processes for assessing ICSs. Assessment reports for the 2 pilots were drafted following assessment activities both on site and off site.
Since these pilot reports were produced, we have further developed and revised our reporting approach in discussion with the Department for Health and Social Care and our stakeholders, and it will be subject to further development before we start ICS assessments. We continue to engage with the new government in relation to ICS assessments and await further clarity from the Secretary of State about priorities for initial assessments and approval to start assessments. In addition, we will need to consider any recommendations in the final report of the review of our operational effectiveness led by Dr Penelope Dash. Due to this, our ICS assessments currently remain paused.
