The CQC has found the quality of care provided by Recovery House, a care home situated in the city of York, to be Outstanding following an inspection in March this year.
Recovery House provides accommodation and personal care for up to five people, at the time of the inspection it was at capacity. The service specialised in supporting people with their mental health recovery.
Recovery House is rated as Outstanding overall and for being caring and responsive, and Good for safe, effective and well-led.
A full report of the inspection has been published on our website.
Debbie Westhead, Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care in the North, said:
“We found this service to be extremely caring and compassionate and we have found it to be Outstanding.
“The home was clearly focused on improving people’s lives and supporting them to be as independent as possible. We found the home to have very experienced, motivated and empathetic staff who took time to get to know the residents, and their care needs, well.
“We received positive feedback from both the residents and visiting healthcare professionals, saying how caring the service was and how responsive it is to their needs. All the evidence we saw showed how dedicated the service was in ensuring that the residents live full lives, safely, and involved them in their own care decisions.
“It is a lovely example of a close knit team working to care for people and support them in being independent. My congratulations on being awarded an Outstanding rating.”
Some of the findings from the inspection included:
- Inspectors saw that staff had good understanding of best practice in care and were led individually on areas such as physical health, medication and activities.
- The management team had wide ranging and relevant skills and experience adding value to the service the service offered.
- Staff described the service as ‘homely’ and had an ‘open, relaxed atmosphere.’
Recovery House is one of three services registered under Gravers Care Homes Ltd, the other two, Graver’s Care Home and One One Eight being rated Good.
