Shepherds Bush Medical Centre in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has been rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission. Previously it was Inadequate and had been placed in special measures.
The centre, which looks after more than 3,400 patients, was rated Good for being safe, caring, responsive and well-led. It was rated Requires Improvement for being effective, following an inspection in October 2019.
The practice now had clear systems and processes to keep patients safe and had improved its systems for the management of emergency medicines.
Leaders could show that they had the capacity and skills to deliver high quality, sustainable care. The practice could demonstrate it had clear and effective processes in place for managing risk.
Inspectors found no breaches of regulations, however the provider should now:
- Monitor the effectiveness of actions to increase the uptake of cervical screening.
- Continue efforts to increase the uptake of childhood immunisations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of action plans regarding long term conditions management to increase patients’ attendance.
Vicki Wells, Interim Deputy Chief Inspector, Primary Medical Services, London, said: “We are taking this service out of special measures, this recognises the significant improvement made to the care provided at Shepherds Bush Medical Centre.
“I am always impressed to see a practice jump from Inadequate and in special measures to a rating of Good overall. Staff and management at the centre have worked hard to achieve this and I hope it can be sustained and perhaps even improved in the future.”
