The Care Quality Commission has rated the care being provided at Pennington Court Nursing Home, to be Outstanding after inspections in August this year.
The service provides accommodation for persons who require personal and nursing care for up to 62 people. At the time of the inspection there was 47 people living in the home. Previously, in November 2015, a breach in the regulations was reported on and the safe question was rated as Requires Improvement. At this inspection improvements had been made in that area and others, which has led to an Outstanding rating being awarded.
Pennington Court Nursing Home was rated Outstanding overall and for responsive and well-well services, and Good for safe, effective and caring services.
A full report of the inspection has been published on the CQC website: www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-119664834
Debbie Westhead – Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care said:
“It’s great to see a service take our previous findings seriously and make improvements where necessary, in this case an area of safety. However, they have not stopped there and have made further improvements to the service, making it Outstanding overall.”
“We heard many examples of how the manager led by example, putting people’s needs first and kept staff involved in the design and operation of the service. We also saw how proactive they were; being involved in innovative practice that was trialled at the service, establishing links with local agencies to develop and share best practice and supporting the progress of student nurses.
“There were a lot of other examples of how the service worked to enhance people’s lives and engage them in meaningful activities. Everyone at the service is clearly driven and committed to providing high quality care. A fantastic achievement, congratulations.”
