England’s Chief Inspector of General Practice has rated the Caldbeck Medical Practice, Wigton as Outstanding following an inspection in August.
Inspectors have rated the practice as Good for safety, effectiveness and responsiveness and caring and well-led as Outstanding. This gives the service its overall rating of Outstanding.
A full report of the inspection can be found at: www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-544616979
Some of the findings from the report include:
- The practice had clear systems to manage risk so that safety incidents were less likely to happen. When incidents did happen, the practice learned from them and improved their processes
- Patients found the appointment system easy to use and that they were able to access care when they needed it
- There was a strong collaboration and support across all staff and a common focus on improving quality of care and people’s experiences.
Alison Holbourn, Deputy Chief Inspector of General Practice for the North, said:
“This is an excellent report for a service that has improved its rating. At their last inspection they were rated as Good.
“There was a clear proactive approach to seeking out and embedding new ways of providing care and treatment. The leadership at the practice put staff at the top of their hierarchy, and this culture had driven and improved delivery.
“Staff and patients provided many examples of times when the practice had shown determination and creativity to overcome obstacles to delivering care. This had led to the practice receiving extremely positive feedback from patients.
“I congratulate the practice on their Outstanding rating. It is clear that through their ongoing improvement, The Caldbeck Practice is delivering first class healthcare ”
