The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published an inspection report on Cygnet Hospital Taunton acute inpatient wards. The wards were rated Requires Improvement for being safe, effective and well-led and Good for being caring and responsive to patients’ needs. Overall Cygnet Hospital Taunton is rated as Good Overall.

This unannounced, focused inspection of the service’s acute wards took place in October 2019 as part of CQC’s ongoing mental health inspection programme.

Cygnet Hospital Taunton was previously inspected in March 2019 and was awarded a rating of Good. Inspectors did not visit the acute inpatient wards during the March inspection as they had only recently opened. During this October inspection only the acute inpatient wards, Starling and Sycamore, were inspected.

Following this most recent inspection, the rating for acute wards is Requires Improvement overall
