The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Cliffe Avenue Surgery in Baildon, Bradford, to be Outstanding following an inspection in March 2016.

Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all of England’s GP practices are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

The inspection team was led by the CQC and supported by specialist advisors including a GP and person with practice management experience. The services provided by Cliffe Avenue Surgery have been rated as Outstanding overall.

A full report of the inspection has been published.

Some of our findings from the inspection included:

  • Staff understood their responsibilities to report incidents, and also to learn from them.
  • Consistently positive feedback from patients, and also acting on patient feedback to improve services.
  • Worked closely with partner organisations and the local community to plan services in a way that best met the needs of patients.
  • The practice received the Bradford Healthy Hearts award 2016. This involves working closely with hospital consultants and other health professionals, on the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease

Sue McMillan, Deputy Chief Inspector of General Practice in the North, said:

“It is clear Cliffe Avenue Surgery in Baildon is providing an effective, responsive and well-led service which is a real asset to the people living in this part of Bradford. To get rated as Outstanding is a real achievement.

“The staff were working hard to continually improve the quality of its service and provide people with consistently high quality care and treatment.

“The practice was clearly well thought of by its patients with 100% of patients surveyed in February saying they would recommend the service to friends and family. It was also impressive to see commitment by the team to the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease in the community.

“This is a great example of what outstanding care looks like.”
