England's Chief Inspector of Hospitals is inviting members of the public to tell his inspection panel what they think of the services provided by Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Their views and experiences will help inspectors decide what to look at when they inspect the trust's inpatient and community services, in September 2014.
The trust is being inspected under radical changes being introduced by the Care Quality Commission. The formal inspection, by a team including clinical experts and people who have experience of using the organisation's services, will start on 29 September 2014.
During the inspection CQC will look at the following areas of care provided by Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust:
- Inpatient services, learning disabilities and autism services, acute admission wards, psychiatric intensive care units and health-based places of safety. Services for older people and long stay, forensic or secure services.
- Adult community-based services, community-based services, child and adolescent mental health services and specialist eating disorder services.
Inspectors will be speaking to a range of hospital and community based health professionals including: doctors, nurses, health visitors as well as contacting patients, visiting clinics to talk to people and visiting people in their own homes to find out about the care provided.
To ensure the views of patients and the local community are properly heard, the inspectors will be holding two listening events:
- Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust - Wednesday 17th September 2014 – York CVS, 15 Priory Street, York, Yorkshire. YO1 6ET – 6.30pm
- Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust – Wednesday 17th September 2014 – St Georges Centre, Great George Street, Leeds, Yorkshire. LS1 3BR. - 6.30pm
People are being encouraged to attend the listening event to find out more about the inspection process, to tell the team about their experiences of care and to say where they would like to see improvements made in the future.
CQC Chief Inspector of Hospitals, Sir Mike Richards, said:
"The new inspections are designed to provide us with a clear picture of the quality of the services, exposing poor or mediocre care as well as highlighting those organisations providing good and excellent care.
"It is vital that we hear the views of the people who have received care through Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, or anyone who wants to share information with us, to help us plan our inspection, and so focus on those things that really matter to people who depend on this service. This is your opportunity to tell me and my team what you think."
A full report of the inspectors' findings will be published by the Care Quality Commission.
