Chief Inspector of Hospitals asks people to tell him about the care provided by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

England's Chief Inspector of Hospitals is inviting members of the public to tell his inspection panel what they think of the services provided by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Their views and experiences will help inspectors choose what areas to look at more closely when they inspect the trusts inpatients and community services, in October 2014.

The trust is being inspected under the new method of approach being introduced by the Care Quality Commission. The formal inspection, by a team including clinical experts and people who have experience of using the organisation’s services, will start on 20 October 2014.

During the inspection CQC will look at the following areas of care provided by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust:

  • Accident and emergency (A&E), medical care including older people’s care, surgery, critical care, maternity and family planning services, children and young people services, end of life care, outpatients and community health services for adults.

Inspectors will be speaking to a range of hospital and community based health professionals including: doctors, nurses, health visitors as well as contacting patients, visiting clinics to talk to people and visiting people in their own homes to find out about the care provided.

To ensure the views of patients and the local community are properly heard, the inspectors will be holding a listening event:

  • Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - Monday 20th October 2014 – Manningham Mills Community Centre, The Silk Warehouse, Lilycroft Road, Bradford, BD9 5BD – 6.30pm

People are being encouraged to attend the listening event to find out more about the inspection process, to tell the team about their experiences of care and to say where they would like to see improvements made in the future.

CQC Chief Inspector of Hospitals, Sir Mike Richards, said:

"The new method of inspection is helping us to create a clear picture of the quality of the services, exposing poor or mediocre care as well as highlighting those organisations providing good and excellent care.

"It is vital to the inspection that we gather as much information as possible including the experiences of the people who have received care through Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, or anyone else who wants to share information with us, to help us plan our inspection. These experiences will help us focus on those things that are important to the people who depend on this service. This is your opportunity to tell me and my team what you think.”

A full report of the inspectors’ findings will be published by the Care Quality Commission.
