Debbie Westhead – Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care said:

“Outstanding in all areas we inspected, a marvellous result and one to be extremely proud of.

“The service had developed an open and transparent culture and empowered staff to create strong caring relationships with the people they supported - people’s views mattered to the service. This culture helped people to feel safe and opened them to discuss difficult issues or concerns and gave reassurance that action would be taken. We also found the service had developed positive ways to deal with difficult situations and behaviours that challenged, which resulted in staff never having to physically intervene.

“The service used innovative methods to promote people’s safety, several posters and leaflets were on display which supported the discussion of health and safety in a fun and creative way. Some great work was being achieved by being in partnership with local healthcare professionals and community services, work was being done to ensure people had holistic support and that staff learn from best practice.

“The people and their relatives we spoke with were all very positive about the support being delivered by the service. Staff worked with people to support them to engage with the community through various events, including a community café which we attended. We found the atmosphere to be welcoming and supportive, and people clearly enjoyed being able to meet new people and form new relationships.

“The service showed that it invests in people and staff and their future, recognising them for their achievements. This service is a superb example of what is achievable through support.”
