All Inspections

15 November 2013

During a routine inspection

We looked at records that confirmed an explanation had taken place with the patient and consent had been obtained and recorded prior to any further treatment or referral decisions being made.

Staff we spoke with told us, 'Following a person's assessment we would formulate an appropriate treatment plan with the patient. Where patients have a degree of anxiety regarding their treatment, we would ensure that we would support them in working to overcome their eating difficulties in their best possible interests.'

We observed one person who used the service preparing their own meal at lunchtime at their own pace and supported by their key support worker when required.

Staff were able to describe the procedures in place to report any safeguarding incidents they may witness or become aware of. They told us that they felt confident any incidents would be dealt with effectively by the management.

Staff confirmed they had completed and were involved in the key skills framework (KSF) process. During the appraisal process staff had the opportunity to discuss their job role, training needs and job performance.

All aspects of care and associated risks, from clinical decision making and recording to accuracy of records were part of a Quality Monitoring Programme (QMP). The provider had a governance system that met its clinical governance obligations and we saw records that confirmed this.
