During a routine inspection

The three people we spoke with told us that staff treated them and their relatives with respect. People told us, 'The carers are absolutely brilliant. They are worth their weight in gold' and 'We have lots in common, we have a good rapport' and 'X loves the carers. They are so caring.'

We found that people's needs and abilities were assessed before they started using the service. The manager assessed risks to people's health and wellbeing. People told us they discussed how staff could help them to minimise risks and that they agreed with their care plans. The five care plans we looked at had been reviewed regularly.

The provider checked that staff were suitable to work with vulnerable people before they started working for the service. The provider's safeguarding policy and procedures were known and understood by the three care staff we spoke with. A member of care staff told us, 'The most important thing is that they feel happy, that they are comfortable with us.'

The provider's recruitment and training process meant that staff had the appropriate skills and training to care for people effectively. Care staff told us they felt well prepared to start work. The manager told us, 'It is imperative that the right faces go in. We might be the only face people see that day.'

The provider's quality assurance system included monitoring that people were happy with staff and with the quality of care they received. One person told us, 'They always resolve any issues.'
