During a routine inspection
Treatment was planned and delivered in line with people's needs arising from a full examination and an assessment of their general health. One person we spoke with said, 'They check very carefully what sort of medicines I am taking.' We also noted that people had the opportunity to discuss their long-term dental health with the dentist. One person told us, 'I have been coming here a long time. I know I am getting the best care, attention and advice I could get.'
We found that there were proper arrangements in place to deal with medical emergencies.
We found that instruments were decontaminated in accordance with the government's guidance and the practice's infection control policy. People were treated in a hygienic environment. One person told us, 'The cleanliness is ideal.'
Staff received appropriate continuing professional development that was relevant to their role and which maintained their professional registration. Staff were also supported by regular meetings, which allowed professional knowledge to be shared among the team.
We saw that the provider carried out a range of audits. These included monitoring of the decontamination equipment and separate infection control and hand washing audits. The provider also monitored the use of radiographs (x-ray images) and the effectiveness of people's medical histories.
