The person supported showed us around their home and told us "I decide what I do and hen I do it". We found the person's care plan was written with the involvement of the person supported. The person told us they were "learning to look after myself". We observed the person being supported and saw the provider was promoting independence.We found in the person's care plan that their needs had been assessed and plans written to meet their needs. The provider and person supported told us how risks were assessed and managed both within and outside of the home.
The provider had up to date policies and procedures on safeguarding in place and knew how to respond if abuse was suspected, witnessed or alleged. The person told us "I come and go as I please and do what I want to do".
The provider was the sole live in carer for the person. However, the provider had arrangements in place to provide support if needed. We found the provider had the qualifications, skills and experience to meet the person's needs. The person told us the provider "knows me well and has looked after me for years".
We found the provider and person supported worked together to plan how the service was provided and regularly assessed the quality of service making changes as a result.
