People who use the service understand the care, treatment and support available to them. They told us the service was personally recommended to them, and that they were provided with sufficient information to make informed choices. People's needs were assessed properly. All clients completed a health assessment questionnaire prior to their consultation and were asked for their signed consent to treatment.
The provider had taken some reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. However there was no evidence of safeguarding reporting policies or training.
Criminal Records Bureau checks were carried out on all treating staff for the laser service. However we have some concerns about the process for obtaining and monitoring criminal records bureau checks for other staff at these premises.
People were protected from unsafe or unsuitable equipment. Annual servicing of laser equipment was carried out as part of preventive maintenance and service contracts, and relevant issues were acted upon.
The provider was able to demonstrate a range of methods in which the quality of the service is being effectively monitored and that outcomes were acted upon. However there was a lack of clarity about the degree to which clinical experts were involved in quality assurance processes relating to the review of clinical policies.
