During a routine inspection

We visited Maryam Rest Home on the 23 and 25 May 2012 because concerns had been raised with us about whether there were sufficient staff in the home, whether staff were using the correct equipment and whether complaints were being resolved appropriately.

Maryam Rest Home provided personal care services for up to four people who shared the home with the Registered Manager and their family. The home retained a family character and the philosophy of care was to provide a family based lifestyle in a homely environment.

During our visit there was only one person at the home, so we talked with them about their experience of living at Maryam Rest Home. We also contacted two relatives and two health professionals.

One person living at the home told us 'They are very happy' at Maryam Rest Home and it is 'Like home'. They explained they were satisfied with the activities on offer in the home.

Two relatives told their relative was 'Very well looked after and received a lot of attention in the home'.

During a routine inspection

All of the people we spoke to told us that the quality of service is very good and staff explain what they are doing are polite and respectful whilst caring for them. Staff listened and talked to people who use the service about their life, hobbies and interests and they helped them to understand their care and treatment choices, whilst maintaining their cultural wishes.
