During a routine inspection
We viewed four care plans on the day of our visit and they were written in a personalised way and contained a history about the person's life and the things they enjoyed. They were reviewed regularly and contained details about their support needs and risk assessments. One person said, "I am looked after very well and I am happy. All the staff are kind and caring."
We found that people were cared for in a clean and hygienic environment. All rooms we visited were clean and tidy and food was stored and cooked after following relevant guidance from the food standards agency. Staff had received training in infection control and food hygiene.
Staffing levels were set after assessing the needs of the people who used the service. Sufficient numbers of staff were on duty at all times and this had been maintained. The qualifications and experience of staff met people's needs.
A complaints procedure was readily available for people and relatives to use. It explained how to make a complaint and how it would be handled. The manager dealt with most complaints but other staff had been trained to handle them and resolve them to people's satisfaction.
