During a routine inspection
We inspected the service on the 20th February 2013. We looked at care records of a number of people using the service, staff files and other records relating to the care and support provided. We spoke with the registered manager, as well as office staff and a number of care workers. We contacted people who use the service by telephone. In cases where they were not able to tell us their experiences, we spoke with their relatives and carers.
People using the service spoke very highly of both the provider and the care workers. One person said they were 'definitely very happy' with the service. Another said their care worker was 'very good.' Two people mentioned that some care workers' command of English occasionally made communication less easy. All the people said the care workers were polite and respectful. All said that the visits were made on time. People's care and support needs were assessed and regularly reviewed. The care provided was person-centred and individualised.
We saw that the provider had effective quality monitoring procedures. Care workers were given appropriate induction and assessment before beginning work, as well as them receiving ongoing training and support.
