During an inspection looking at part of the service
"It is very good here...very organised...I like the company and we get on well together."
We went to check that the written plans of care were more robust for people with dementia. We had found at the last inspection that the plans did not help staff support people appropriately. At this visit we saw that all the plans in all areas of the home had been reviewed.
We looked at all of the plans for the people who lived on the special dementia care unit. We saw that some errors had been amended and that there was more detail on some plans. We saw, for example, that where people had problems controlling their emotions and behaviour the team had started to write more specific guidance for the whole team to follow. We noted that the manager had asked for help and support to develop behavioural plans.
We also heard that there had been further training and staff meetings about supporting people with some of the distressing symptoms of dementia. We judged that these developments meant that the service was now compliant. We asked the provider to continue to support the team to develop strategies for people with dementia.
