During a routine inspection
We saw that before people received treatment and care they were asked for their consent. People were asked to sign a consent to operation form following a full explanation by the consultant about the procedure to be undertaken and the choices available to them.
We were told that all prospective patients visited the unit for a pre medical assessment to ensure they were fit to undergo surgery. People's relevant medical conditions had been recorded including any allergies.
People were protected from the risk of infection because effective systems were in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.
People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.
